Sepang Test Day One Notes | MotoGP
The long winter break has ended and the MotoGP bikes were on track for the first time in 2013. Yesterday was the first day of a 3 day test in Sepang.
The rookie, Honda Repsol rider Marc Marquez certainly made an impact on the first day of testing by topping the charts with the best time by mid-day. This was Marquez’s third time on the bike and thus far looks comfortable in the premier class. His teammate, Dani Pedrosa ended the day with the fastest time, with Marquez taking 3rd respectively.
Yamaha also had a strong day of testing, with Jorge Lorenzo making the 2nd best time and Valentino Rossi finished the day in fourth. Both riders were testing some new parts on the bike that they weren’t able to try in the last test in Aragon due to weather. The times between the Yamaha’s and Honda’s were very close for most of the day. Rossi said, ” I’m very happy about the first day of testing with the M1. After two seaons away I was able to come bck on the bike and remember the good feeling I always had with it. I’m also happy because I was quite fast from the morning.” .
Ducati riders didn’t have great times for the day but they slowly making improvements to the bike which didn’t change much from last year. Nicky Hayden was 10th for the day and new teammate Andrea Dovizioso in 13th.
