I have been riding with the same Arai helmet for the last 23 years....yes since 1988. It has seen many up and downs, so after a 10 layoff from racing (not riding) I decided to get the VFX-W since it has so many rave reviews. After receiving it I was somewhat disappointed since the weight was not noticeable different than my 22 old Arai. I will say that the ventilation seems better and being able to pull all the insides out with ease is a plus. I can say that the quality is not as good, guess they don't build them like they used to, because the shell seems very thin and I can safely say that after some of the crashes my Arai has seen, this Shoei will crack (hope I wrong). Anyway I rode with the helmet just once and its in the paint booth now so these opinions are without heavy use. BTO was awsome reasonable price and very quick shipping.
