Motocycle Helmets
Motorcycle helmets are a controversial item. Some states allow no helmets for motorcyclists, others don’t. Of the 50 states, only four ( Colorado, Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire) are truly helmet free. Other states allow adults to ride sans helmet, but not children with some variations as to who is considered adult. A few states require helmets for all riders.
We here at BTO Sports want to provide motorcycle helmets that will provide all the comfort you require when you wear a helmet and all the safety you need when you ride.
When you choose a motorcycle helmet from BTO Sports, you may want to review this checklist for important qualities. All our motorcycle helmets comply.
Comfort
Since you’ll be wearing it over and over, your helmet should be safe, look good and feel comfortable.
Helmet Shell
The motorcycle helmet shell is often made of fiberglass or of a polycarbonate mixture. Fiberglass motorcycle helmets are very stable, high-impact resistant and long-wearing. Polycarbonate helmets are usually sturdy and lightweight. The helmet shell should be cast in a single piece.
Helmet Safety Liner
The motorcycle helmet safety liner is made of a product similar to that used for foam cups. Its purpose is to absorb impact energy. We urge you to choose a helmet with a safety liner
Helmet Comfort Liner
The part of the motorcycle helmet that rests against your head is the helmet comfort liner. Its purpose is to absorb sweat and breathe. If it’s removable for laundering, that’s even better
Ventilation System
You need a good ventilation system—air should be able to enter AND leave. The air rushing past your ears can be very annoying over a long trip.
Chin strap locking systems
Three types of chin straps are the double D ring which is the lightest and safest, the quick release which is the easiest to handle, and the lever system which is least common. Make sure you know how to remove your helmet.
Space for your ears
Ergonomically designed motorcycle helmets will be much more comfortable for your ears.
Sunshades
Your motorcycle helmet should have a sunshade to protect your eyes against sun glare.
Helmet shell sizes
A motorcycle helmet that has different shell sizes will be safer and look better than one which relies on extra padding to fill up the space inside.
Helmet visor
Your motorcycle helmet visor should not distort your vision.
All these features will ensure your comfort and safety when selecting one of our motorcycle helmets. In addition, our range of prices will help you get the best quality for your money.
