Which motorcycle brands are your favorite? If you're into the tradition of the Harley Davidson crowd and not as into the speed, chances are good that you wouldn't be here—but everyone is different and there's no way to be sure!
Street Motorcycle Brands
The Big Four Japanese brands may all seem similar, but there are notable differences between these motorcycle brands. Kawasaki produces serious power, giving you really fast bikes that are still comfortable to ride for awhile. Honda is both reliable and into cutting edge technology; linked braking systems, variable valve timing, V4 engines, and oval valves were each innovations from Honda.
Yamaha is and always has been a company focused and built on racing. That means lots of speed, but less comfort; if you're an all-day rider, sometimes Yamaha isn't as comfy for you, but then again, it might not take all day to get there! Suzuki kind of sits in a sweet spot in the midst of all this, with some of the Kawasaki power and some of the nice handling of the racer's Yamaha.
Or maybe you're hoping for the Ferrari of motorcycles, the Ducati—very pretty, but in some models more maintenance than you might be used to if you've been riding Japanese for awhile. Even more exotic are the MV or Aprilia Italian motorcycle brands.
