Washougal, WA (July 22, 2012) – Team BTO Sports Suzuki visited the beautiful and picturesque pacific northwest of Washougal MX for round eight of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Coming off the best race of the season for the BTO Sports Suzuki squad, the team hammered it down in practice and was looking forward to stepping it up another level in the trees of the Washougal MX track.
Michael Byrne is having a good second part of the season, and nailing the starts with his Pirelli Scorpion MX tires giving him the drive to be up front. He would run within the top 5 for most of the moto, but the slick Washougal track got the best of Byrner and he would eventually finish 13th at the end of the first moto. The second moto Byrner pinned it out of the gate with another great start. He would run strong, but would fade back to his eventual finishing spot of 17th. At the end of the day, Byrner would ride away with 16th overall. Not what he was expecting, but still a good solid top twenty.
Jimmy Albertson would start the first moto up in the mix, but a scary high speed crash would knock Albertson out for a couple of laps. He was carried off the track and taken to the Asterisk Medical Ceter, and then to a local hospital to be further evaluated. Aside from a splitting headache and sore-ness, “Top” Jimmy is ok and will be ready for the next round. Big props go out to Fly Racing and their F2 Helmets that saved Albertson’s head from more damage.
