Bell - 2016 Race Star Solid Helmet
Purpose-Built Performance - Introducing the All-New 2016 Star Series
Game Changed. Again
Since its introduction back in 1967, the Bell Star has long represented the standard in head protection. Revered as the first full-face helmet on the market, the Bell Star inspired an industry to pursue the science of head protection. That obsession with helmet innovation continues today. The new Bell Star is more than an evolution of its predecessor. It's a complete rethinking of what a race helmet should be, driven by the essential needs of the modern racer.
Reinvented Field of View - The 2016 Star offers an entirely new viewport creating better vertical and lateral field of view and even greater head-check visibility.
Field Tested and Developed - Working with professional riders on the track is the best way to understand the challenge and generate solutions quickly.
Optimized Aerodynamics - Using our state-of-the-art wind tunnel, we fine-tuned the Star's aerodynamics with advanced riding simulations.
More Sizes, More Performance - Offering 6 EPS and 5 shell sizes allows a more proportional fit and improved performance fit and improved performance, especially at high-speeds.
Broaden Your Horizon
Panovision Viewport Increases Field of View
No matter what or how you ride, one factor remains constant: the need for maximum visibility. Whether racing or going on a simple ride in the mountains, the ability to make safe headchecks and see obstacles clearly is critical. The Panovision viewport in the 2016 Star offers riders additional vertical and lateral visibility over the previous Star and more traditional viewports. This allows the rider to see better in a tight or tucked position and make safer lane changes and head-checks.
Purpose Built: Raceview vs Streetview
The 2016 Star features two unique profile shapes for two distinctly different types of riding. The Raceview profile used on the Pro Star and Race Star uses an orientation specifically optimized for a tucked, more compact position. Conversely, the Streeview profile used for the Star is designed for a more upright, sport or touring position.
Bell Race Star Helmet
The Racer with a Day Job, The Race Star provides the same level of Rider Protection in a more Affordable Package.
Flex Impact Liner - A first-of-its kind, three-layer impact liner designed to manage energy from three potential impact scenarios: low, mid and high-speed.
3K Carbon Shell - The prven 3K carbon fiber on the 2016 Race Star gives this helmet the look, performance, and feel of a true race helmet.
Virus® CoolJade Power Mesh Liner - Designed to withstand with rigors of hard use in extreme conditions, the Virus liner allows athletes to stay cool, keep comfortable and beat the funk.
Magnesium Magnetic Cheekpads - Allows for easy removal of the pads for washing and enables emergency responders to easily remove the cheekpads first before removing the helmet following an impact.
Virus® CoolJade Power Mesh Lining
Technical Fabrics Designed for Action Sports
Pro Star and Race Star feature the most technically advanced liner on the market. CoolJade fabric from Virus has been infused with recycled jade to create a natural cooling effect. The ultra-wicking construction combined with CoolJade infused yarn decreases your skin surface temperature up to 10° F - keeping you comfortable, dry and cool.
Flex Impact Liner
The Progressive Protection of the Flex Impact Liner
The 2016 Pro Star and Race Star feature our revolutionary Flex impact liner. Designed to manage energy from impacts big and small, the Flex liner uses 3 unique materials at different densities to manage low, mid and high energy impacts. Using expanded polyolefin (EPO), a soft and flexible low-density polymer for low-speed impacts, with EPP and EPS layers for mid to high-speed impacts, we have a progressive impact liner that works incredibly well to manage impacts across the spectrum of crash types.

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA.(October15, 2015)–Bell Helmets, an industry leader in helmet technology and innovation, today introducedthe all-¬‐new Pro Star, a complete rethinking of what a race helmet should be, driven by the essential needs of the modern racer. Field-¬‐tested by Bell’s world-¬‐classriders, the sophisticated materials integrated into the Pro Starallow the rider to become one with the helmet.Don’t think, just ride. As the race wears on and fatigue sets in,hot spots and helmet shifting begin to nag and detract a rider’s attentionfrom the track. That’s no longera problemwith Bell’s latest technologies in the Pro Star. A VIRUS®CoolJade™power mesh liner reduces skin surface temperatures up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s designed to withstand the rigors of hard use in extreme conditions and allowsriders to stay cooland keep comfortable.Plus, a new Panovision™ Viewport offers additional vertical and lateral visibility allowing riders to see better in a tight or tucked position.Along with enhanced comfort, the Pro Star has vastly improved its protection system. But the outside matters, too. The carbon shell is reinforced byTeXtreme®, an ultra-¬‐thin carbon fiber weave, 20 percent lighter than conventional carbon fiber, makingitone of Bell’s lightest and strongest shells ever.Lastly, the Magnefusion magnetic cheekpadsystemis designed for easy removal of pads for washing and enables emergency responders to easily pull outthe padsbefore takingthe helmet off an injured rider, reducing the chance of neck injury.“Our engineers not only addressedcore needs, but developeda helmet that redefines performance, safety standardsand offers truly game-¬‐changing innovations,” said Chris Sackett, Bell Helmets Vice President. “We’re offering six EPS liners along with five shell sizes for a more proportional fit and improved performance. Further, there will be three helmets within the Star Series –Pro Star, Race Star, Star –to match your riding style.” Countless hours of testing went into the development of the helmet from state-¬‐of-¬‐the-¬‐art wind tunnels for optimized aerodynamics to road testing. Bell tapped into several of its top road ambassadorsfor their input includingCameron Beaubier, Jake Gagne, Josh Herrin, William Dunlop and Gary Johnson. The Pro Star is the top tier helmet within the 2016 Star Series lineup. Following the Pro Star is the Race Star, made for the racer with a day job.
