    Bell Star MIPS Helmet

The introduction of Bell’s full face helmet from 1967 changed the game of head protection. Ever since then Bell has been building on and evolving their designs. Now we have the newest iteration and successor to their original design, the Silver Bell Star Helmet with MIPS.

The general shape of the helmet is very oval, engineered to be as aerodynamic as possible. The composition of the shell has changed over time as well. Carbon fiber, fiberglass, and aramid make up the shell of this Bell Star Helmet and it is contested to be one of the robust helmets they have ever made. Not only that, the materials used makes the shell and the overall helmet very light weight by comparison to some other helmets. Another change to the helmet is the increase in visibility. Bell has increased the amount of surface area take up the viewport on this helmet. Due to this the wearer should have more vertical and horizontal view. No longer will you have to solely rely on your mirrors, now head-checking should be a whole lot easier.

The interior of the Bell Star Silver Helmet is lined with the XT2 Silver Liner. The XT2 is an antimicrobial fabric that is proven to provide odor protection and inhibits the growth of bacteria throughout the lifespan of the liner itself. The XT2 Liner’s are permanently bonded with a layer of 99.9%(pure metallic silver. The ions of the silver create an ionic shield that permanently inhibits the growth of bacteria and other fungi. Despite the infused metal the fibers are flexible that look no different from other fabrics. The interior pads are resting on the MIPS slip-plane technology. What this does is, upon impact the pads are to move with the head of the wearer and shift at initial point of impact. This shifting in the pads allows them to absorb more of the kinetic energy from the impact and significantly reduces the risk of traumatic brain injuries.
