Bell - Star MIPS RSD Blast Helmet

The introduction of the Bell full face helmet in 1967 changed the way the world would perceive head protection. Since then Bell has evolved their initial designs and created a robust design to appeal to the rider in all of us. The Bell Star RSD Blast Helmet is one of the successors to the Bell legacy.

The RSD Blast Helmet’s shell is comprised of a special proprietary mix of ingredients which include carbon fiber, fiber glass, and aramid. Together these materials create a lightweight, strong, and robust shell that lead the way in terms of head protection. The shell is not the only part of the helmet that has seen an update. The viewport of the helmet has been altered to increase vertical and horizontal viewing but makes the viewport take up much more of the surface area of the Blast Helmet. As a result, one would find they can make more reliable head checks while on the road. One can’t put all their trust into mirrors.

The interior of the Bell RSD Blast Helmet is lined with the XT2 Silver Liner. The XT2 is an antimicrobial fabric that is proven to provide odor protection and inhibits the growth of bacteria throughout the lifespan of the liner itself. The XT2 Liner’s are permanently bonded with a layer of 99.9%(pure metallic silver. The ions of the silver create an ionic shield that permanently inhibits the growth of bacteria and other fungi. Despite the infused metal the fibers are flexible that look no different from other fabrics. The interior pads are resting on the MIPS slip-plane technology. What this does is, upon impact the pads are to move with the head of the wearer and shift at initial point of impact. This shifting in the pads allows them to absorb more of the kinetic energy from the impact and significantly reduces the risk of traumatic brain injuries.
