In 1963, a leather craftsman named Sante Mazzarolo founded a future icon in the small town of Asolo, Italy. Named after the Alpine star flower, Alpinestars began producing its first products at a time when a new sport, motocross, was gaining popularity across Europe. With an eye on the sport’s rise, Sante saw an opportunity to design footwear that met the unique demands of this beautiful yet brutal athleticism. His revolutionary boot set a new standard in motocross protection.
After establishing the company in Maser, Northern Italy, Sante focused on creating a new, groundbreaking boot for local enduro and motocross riders. His innovation quickly made Alpinestars the leader in racing performance. By the early 1970s, riders like Roger de Coster were wearing Alpinestars boots, helping to secure the brand’s first World Motocross Championship.
