Troy Lee Designs - SE4 Polyacrylite Pinstripe Helmet
Following the success of the SE4 Carbon and SE4 Composite, Troy Lee has introduced the new SE4 Polyacrylite line. The Troy Lee Designs SE4 Polyacrylite Pinstripe helmet is a brand new take on head protection, with all the same great features that made the SE4 the 2016 Motoworld Product of the year! This is a fantastic and affordable dirt bike helmet for riders with a smaller budget, but don’t want to compromise on head protection.
Riders are used to seeing Troy Lee dirt bike helmets with sky high price tags, and for good reason too. Troy Lee Design helmets are some of the best in the industry; engineered using the highest quality materials and the latest helmet tech. That’s why the brand new Troy Lee Designs SE4 Polyacrylite Pinstripe helmet is a big deal, because of the new dramatically reduced price tag. Troy Lee is able to make this an affordable dirt bike helmet by reducing the construction cost of the exterior shell. The carbon and the composite are made out of carbon fiber and carbon-fiberglass respectively. However, the Polyacrylite is made of an inexpensive plastic material that still provides more than enough head protection for riders that like top go all out! However, this motocross helmet is slightly heavier than the other SE4 models.
Aside from the exterior shell, The Troy Lee Designs SE4 Polyacrylite Pinstripe Helmet is essentially the same helmet as the other two models. It possesses all of the same great safety features like the triple density EPS foam. This layer sits right underneath the exterior shell that adds additional protection. The hard shell provides protection against abrasions and punctures, while the EPS absorbs blunt trauma and impacts. Despite the lower price tag, this helmet is also equipped with the Mips protection system. TLD has worked closely with Mips to create integrated dirt bike helmets that aim to give riders the most protection possible. For those who are new to Mips, It consists of a low friction layer that sits between the Shell and foam that allows them to slide past each other. What this does is allow the outer shell to move relative to the point of impact, creating longer contact between the force and the motocross helmet. This greatly reduces the rider’s risk of serious brain damage and head trauma.
The Troy Lee Designs SE4 Polyacrylite Pinstripe helmet still has all the same features as its more expensive brethren, like the moisture wicking interior liner. The liner draws moisture away from the hair and skin of the rider, which helps keep them dry and comfortable. Anyone who’s been around the track a few knows how much work it takes to maneuver a heavy bike. Compound that with a hot day, and it doesn’t take long for sweat to start building up inside the dirt bike helmet. The SE4 Polyacrylite has a combined 20 ventilation ports that help regulate the airflow inside the helmet cavity. The intake vents are positioned perfectly to take advantage of the riders’ forward momentum, while the exhaust ports expel hot and damp air out the back of the motocross helmet. These two features work in tandem to keep riders dry and comfortable.
